Yeah yeah yeah you’ve know “all politics is local”-

About that this blogger will always be quite vocal.

Yesterday, April 6th, the municipal election

For voting did more Oshkoshians show affection

Than in the primary about two months past

In which ten thousand, five hundred forty four ballots were cast?

Yes, I’m quite happy to report the ballots didn’t lessen!

Twenty thousand, two hundred and sixty seven

Chose to turn out and select the school board

More than double from February…I’m floored!

It’s still not where I’d like the number to be

Though I can clearly the improvement see.

Other races had similar or better participation.

A few judges you might face after a citation.

The city council you might face when upset

Because a new ordinance got you in a sweat.

Did these races divide your family or friends,

Relationships ruptured beyond a possible mend?

Did these races dominate paper and web headlines,

Mind occupied, transformed into a landmine?

No, of course they did not.

Soon, they will be forgot.

But regardless if you remember

On this city their effects will center.

I advise you to take up the voting cause

So governance in Oshkosh does not pause.
