Liberation Day: Not Here To Stay?

1 min readApr 10, 2025

One week past,

Tariffs were gonna last.

Our 47th president declared

Without a hint of being scared

A trade war across the globe

Even affecting microbes.

It was America’s Liberation Day

The world was finally going to pay!

Because for years we were ‘ripped off

As the USA fed all from its trough.

As markets fell, Trump hit the golfing range.

Truthing “MY POLICIES WILL NEVER CHANGE!”

Bessent and Lutnick made the rounds

Proclaiming: booming economy inbound!

Yet there were many signs

That few for these tariffs pined.

Already barely getting by,

Farmers wished for a job alibi.

Business leaders expressed concern

Their financials made their stomachs churn.

Senate Republicans aimed to wrestle back

The tariff power in a bipartisan attack.

Chief of Staff Wiles convinced her boss

The financial Rubicon to no longer cross.

Now, cue the applause:

We have a 90 day tariff pause.

Except for the PRC…..

Isolated, they may be.

Was that the overall plan?

Either way, man-

I need a break from the news

Before I get the economic blues.
