We Did Not Bend

After rabble rousing speech,

Which of fraud did preach,

Some defied idol’s electoral fate

Wanting to keep America great.

MAGA thugs, two thousand or so

Crusaded against democracy’s “foe.”

Windows smashed, offices looted

Officers from life booted.

Lawmakers running to escape

Norms shattered, mouths agape.

Several hour traumatic assault

Had many an error and fault.

In the end,

Results certified

Insurrection denied

Politicians survived

Consequences arrived.

Our Capitol did not bend

From this singular time

From this singular crime.

After patriotic speech,

Which of duty did preach,

Some defied foreign electoral fate

Wanting to keep America great.

American soldiers, operatives, allies many and few

Crusaded against enemies in different eras and hues

Windows smashed, homes looted

Civilians from life booted.

Politicians sprinting to escape

Before power shift took shape.

Short and long traumatic assaults

Carried out absent operational faults.

In the end,

Results blocked or certified

Insurgencies supported or denied

Puppets died or survived

Consequences avoided or arrived.

Our will did not bend.

Through these dozens of times

Through these duties or crimes?
